Surrey Children's Choir 'Chamber Choir'

Info
The "Chamber Choir" is a talented group of singers/musicians chosen for their ability to read music, their voice colour and range, and their commitment and efficient work habits at rehearsals. They are often involved in special projects: recordings, concerts and competitions. Entrance is by invitation of the director, as required. Choristers who wish to be in the Chamber Choir are strongly encouraged to complete Grade 1 and 2 theory examinations from the Royal Conservatory of Music and must sing in either the SCC or the SYC.

The "Chamber Choir" received Gold Standing at Musicfest Canada in 2005. Adjudicator Malcolm Edwards of the University of Alberta had this to say about the choir: “Your choir resides at the highest level, level five, which is artistry. This is the level trod by the musical saints and I thank you for being the choir to end my time here at Musicfest.” In both May, 2006 and May, 2008 they won 2nd Prize in the CBC National Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs aired ‘live’ across Canada. In July 2008, the “Chamber Choir” attended the International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River, British Columbia. This festival is considered one of the top choral festivals in the world. The choir received first prize (Equal Voices) and second prize (Chamber Choir) in competitions which included choirs from several different countries and continents.

This year, the SCCcc is thrilled to be touring to the UK for the 2009 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales.
