Our Choirs

Our singers, aged 7-70 (yes, there is an adult choir, the Surrey Community Chorus, initially made up of parents who felt they were missing out on all the fun!), are grouped into the Junior and Intermediate Training Choirs (JTC & ITC); the Surrey Children's Choir (SCC); Surrey Children's Chamber Choir (SCCcc) and the Surrey Youth Chorus (SYC). All choir levels rehearse in Ocean Park and there is a JTC located in North Surrey as well. After the initial audition, advancement from one level to another is at the discretion of the Director and is skill based rather than age based.

While fostering a life-long love of music and the joy of singing, the Surrey Children's Choir programme includes vocal training, musical literacy, theory and sight-singing, foreign language study, cultivation of phrasing and musicality, and performance and stage skills including choreography. The SCC season includes weekly rehearsals, Fall and Winter Vocal workshops, Spring Saturday Choreography workshop, community performances, festivals, retreats, and touring.

Under the auspices of the Surrey Choral Arts Society these choirs present 4-7 acclaimed Community concerts each season. While providing invaluable musical experience and exposure for our choristers, they are also giving the community high caliber and exciting concerts.
